God’s Prophetic Determination with Israel (Daniel 9:24)

  • Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people
  • thy people and thy holy city – prophetic program is for Israel
    • The Harbinger by Jonathan Cahn creates confusion about what God is doing because it puts America in the spotlight of prophecy
    • Why no America?  Because America is not the subject of prophecy
  • So why seventy weeks?
    • Leviticus 25:3-4 seventh year rule – year of the Sabbath
      • a day and a year just like the sabbath
      • 6 days work, 7th day rest
      • 6 years work the land, 7th year rest the land
      • From Saul (1 Samuel 9:11-18) through Jehoiakim’s third year there are 70 sabbath years that the land has no rest.
      • That’s 70 x 7 – Matthew 18:22
    • Leviticus 24:17-22 the law was an eye for an eye
    • Luke 21:24 times of the Gentiles is the time God has given Jerusalem over to be ruled by Gentile nations.  It is God’s judgment on Israel
  • Finish the transgression
  • make and end of sins
  • make reconciliation for iniquity
  • bring in everlasting righteousness
  • seal up the vision and prophecy
  • anoint the most Holy
  • Notice the 70 weeks are broken down to 7 weeks + 62 weeks + 1 week.
    • They are determined, but not consecutive
    • 7 weeks (49 years) – Silver – Medes/Persians
    • 62 weeks (434 years) – Brass – Greek – silent years (no scripture)
      • Zechariah 6:8
      • Amos 8:11
    • 1 week (7 years) – Iron – Assyrian confederacy

The Scheduled Events (Daniel 9:25-27)

      • Done during the silver phase of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream in Daniel 2
      • Done during the Ram of Daniel 8
      • The commandment to rebuild the temple began with Cyrus as is recorded in Ezra, but that was not specified in Daniel’s 70 weeks.
      • These prophets preached the word of the Lord to get the temple rebuilt.
        • Haggai
        • Zechariah
        • Malachi
    • John 2:20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?

62 weeks (434 years) – Brass Goat – Greece

      • Matthew – John and extended to Acts 7
      • Hebrews 1:1-2
    • and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. (9:26)
    • Destruction of the temple is mentioned in conjunction with the cutting off of the Messiah
      • Matthew 23:37 – 24:1-14
      • Mark 13:1-13
      • Luke 19:41-44, 21:5-19
    • Titus came from the north, swept through Galilee and into Jerusalem and destroyed the temple in 70 A.D.  Remember, Rome is still considered Greece.  There is no such thing as Roman Catholicism at this time.  Rome is just an offshoot of Greece.
    • At this time, all the apostles are dead except John.
    • All the New Testament has been written except the book of Revelation.  That is significant so you understand that Revelation is not written about the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D.
