Text: Ephesians 1

The Lord Jesus Christ is like the ark Noah built.  If you got in the ark, that resulted in several benefits to you; the main one being you were saved.

Blessed with all spiritual blessing “IN CHRIST” (1:3)

  • salvation by grace (Ephesians 2:8-9)
  • peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:23)
  • grace in time of need (Hebrews 4:15)
  • all things working for good (Romans 8:28)
  • a new body (2 Corinthians 5:28)
  • past, present and future justification (Romans 3:28)

Chosen “IN CHRIST” (1:4)

  • to be made holy
  • holiness to come before God pure
  • holiness to keep you out of sin in this life
  • without blame
  • if you don’t stay away from sin, then blameless
  • we beat ourselves up about past sins
  • put it under the blood of Jesus Christ and move on

Adopted “IN CHRIST” (1:5)

  • you were taken out of the devil’s family and put into Gods (John 8:44)
  • the Devil worked in you, now the Holy Spirit can work in you (Ephesians 2:2)
  • John 1:12 power to be called the sons of God

Accepted “IN CHRIST” (1:6)

  • we had fallen short, but IN CHRIST we are acceptable
  • written in the book of life (Philippians 4:3)

Redeemed by Blood “IN CHRIST” (1:7)

  • sins forgiven
  • bought with the price of blood

Abounded toward us “IN CHRIST” (1:8)

  • in wisdom (Proverbs 8:11-12)
  • in prudence (Proverbs 14:8, 22:3)

Made known the mystery (1:9)

  • his will for your life as his creature
  • his will for creation in general

Gathered together

  • unity in Christ, but only in Christ
  • gathering of saints past and present

Obtained Inheritance “IN CHRIST” (1:11)

  • go to prepare a place for you, a mansion (John 14:2)
  • if we suffer with him we will also reign with him (Romans 8:17)

Sealed “IN CHRIST” (1:13)

  • eternal security is IN CHRIST
  • sealed until the day of redemption (Ephesians 4:30)
