The Seven Seals

The church has been raptured.  So now we are entering into what will be the end of this present evil world and the establishment of righteousness and Jesus Christ reigning as King of kings and Lord of lords.

The book of Revelation is a compilation of the prophecies in the Bible.  It is like an index to Biblical prophecy.  In the book of Revelation John is shown end time events at least four times from different angles.  Each episode reveals different details and links to different books of the Bible.

The Lord Jesus Christ is found worthy in chapter 5 to receive power, riches, wisdom, strength, honour, glory, and blessing which is significant because now the god of this world can be overthrown and placed into righteous hands of the second Adam.  There is someone, namely the Lord Jesus Christ, to give total authority of the earth to who is holy and righteous and good.

Now that the Lord Jesus Christ has been found worthy and all heavenly preparations have been made, the Lord begins to unseal the book reserved for the end.  We oftentimes think of the end as the apocalypse when in reality the end has more to do with the establishing of righteousness, judgment, and peace in the earth that hasn’t enjoyed it since creation.

First Seal

  • Many folks have interpreted this rider on the white horse as the antichrist for the following reasons:
    • He appears to be a counterfeit of Jesus Christ on his white horse in Revelation 19
    • He has a bow, but no mention of arrows which some have said that means he conquers by peace.
    • He has a crown so he must be a world ruler
  • Before we ascribe meaning to this let’s look at some cross references.
    • The white horse we’ve seen before in scripture in Zechariah 1:7-11, 6:1-4.
    • The white horse is one of the four spirits around the throne sent out by the Lord.  So this white horse and rider are not coming out of the book.  They are sent from the throne of God as the seal is opened.
    • You say that sounds weird.  It does.  But the Lord has sent spirits into the world before such as his Holy Spirit being sent into the world.  In Acts 2 when the disciples received the Holy Spirit of God, it was manifested in certain ways.  The world had an interpretation of those events that really had nothing to do with what was actually happening.
  • The world doesn’t see this happening in heaven, but the world will see the results of this happening.
    • Daniel had recorded the results of what was going to take place and told to seal up this book that is now being unsealed.
    • Daniel 11:5-9 – The king of the south (Egypt)
    • Archer: Genesis 21:20, Genesis 49:23, 2 Chronicles 35:20-23
  • John is being shown the spirits that commence the beginning of sorrows as outlined in Matthew 24.
    • Matthew 24:3-6
