The way this dispensation begins is very similar to the way it will end.  The rapture is a necessary event that will change those living from mortal bodies to immortality in order to obtain the inheritance the Lord has.

  • Romans 11:11-36
  • Purpose of this dispensation (vss 16-18)
    • Ephesians 3:2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:
    • Colossians 1:25-29
  • Paul had been given revelation of some mysteries God had not revealed in his plan previously.  So that means no one spoke about this prior to Paul’s revelation.
  • Day of Jesus Christ
    • Different than the day of the LORD
    • 1 Corinthians 1:8, 5:5
    • 2 Corinthians 1:14
    • Philippians 1:6-11

Change to Immortality

    • shall not prevent them or go before them or stop them from going up
    • Coming of the Lord is not a mystery, but the rapture is.
  • the Lord himself shall descend from heaven
    • Compare with Matthew 24:31 where Jesus sends his angels
  • trump of God, the voice of God
    • first trump is the dead being raised
    • last trump is we which are alive according to 1 Corinthians 15:52
  • meet the Lord in the air
