What are some ways that God wants to hear form us? Praising Him, Praying to Him, Talking to Him, we read His word for Him to talk to us. How about making a joyful noise to Him? That does not mean that He does not want us to try to sing nicely. But He clearly says make a joyful noise unto Him. It is not to impress others, it should be joy from our heart. Just like giving unto the Lord He says to give with a joyful heart. I am sorry in advance if I step on your toes, mine got stepped on the whole time that I was getting this together and while I am preaching it as well.
Psalm 95:1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
Psalm 33:3 Sing unto him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise.
Psalm 67:4 O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah.
God says sing for joy! How are we singing, sometimes I feel like that I am just going through the motion, we should be excited, singing with joy and zeal!
It is not to impress others, it should be joy from our heart. Just like financial giving unto the Lord He says to give with a joyful heart. By the way how is our financial giving, everything we have is His, what are we doing with what God has given us?
2Corinthians 9:6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
Just as here God is looking at our heart, so as with our making a joyful noise to HIM. We should sing praise with a joyful noise.
Sing is in the KJ 102 times, sing praise, etc. never sing a beautiful song or musick.
Why are we singing in church? Why are we not singing in church? Example of the last two Sunday nights. I truly do not believe God is concerned with if we are in tune, or our tempo or beat is perfect, but where is our heart? Why are we not singing with all our heart, are we embarrassed what other people think? Who are we trying to impress?
The word musick is in the KJ 16 times, not once does it say beautiful or pretty musick……
Psalm 66:1 Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands:
If we believe God’s word and really trust it should we be shouting from the mountain tops?
Psalm 81:1 Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.
Psalm 95:2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
Psalm 98:4 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.
Psalm 98:6 With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.
Psalm 100:1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
1Samuel 18:6 And it came to pass as they came, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of musick
Look at the negative side of it!
We could be singing the most beautiful music and lyrics, but if it is out of vanity or self centeredness, wanting men’s praises, and not from our heart, he does not want to hear it.
Amos 5:23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.
2Chronicles 5:13 It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD;
We should be raising the roof with a joyful noise as His Word says…. Amen
Isaiah 42:11 Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.
How about we make a joyful noise unto the Lord……….
