Am I going to Heaven? How do I know?
If you were to die tonight, are you 100% sure that you would go to heaven?
- Yes, I am sure.
- No, I don’t know what’s going to happen. (But I hope I go.)
The question of eternal life is too important to leave unanswered. If you’re wrong, the consequences are eternal so of all the things you want to know in life, this is the most important thing to know. I’d like to show you from the Bible how to KNOW you have eternal life and are going to heaven. The Bible says in 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
You Are Condemned
You are not going to heaven. The Bible says in Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and ALL LIARS, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. If you have told a lie, then you are a part of this group. Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Your sin has made you guilty before God. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death.
“But, I’m a good person!” God says you’re not as good as you think you are.
You never had to be taught how to lie, that came naturally. You’re nature is sinful. God said, There is none that doeth good, no not one. Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. Your sin will be paid for.
Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Right now, you are the one who will be paying for your sin. As Jesus said, fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell, Matthew 10:28. God is holy and sin is dealt with by fire.
If we stop here, you won’t make it to Heaven. But God had other plans!
Jesus Christ already paid for all of your sins
Now why would you to choose to go to hell with your sins paid for? The Bible is so clear on this point. Look at 1 Timothy 2:5-6, For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself a ransom for all.
Jesus Christ took your complete punishment for sin. You have to die, so he died in your place. You have to go to hell, so he went to hell for you. 2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. He is not willing that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9) including you.
Paul preached in Acts 20:21, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. As John 1:12 says, But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast, Ephesians 2:8-9.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, Romans 10:9-10, 13.
I need Jesus Christ!
Dear Lord, I know I am a sinner and that I am on my way to hell. I don’t want to go there. I want you to save me and take me to heaven when I die. So, right now, the best way I know how, I repent and ask you to save me. I receive you as my Saviour. Fill me with your Holy Spirit and help me to live as a Christian, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Now if you believe God’s words and receive Jesus Christ, you’re going to know for sure where you are going when you die. You are going to go to heaven! Remember 1 John 5:13?
