The kingdom of heaven is at hand (Chapters 1-4)
- Genealogy of the Prince (Chapter 1)
- 1:1-17 – Heritage of the Prince
- Abraham and David are mentioned because God made significant covenants with each that will ultimately be fulfilled in Jesus Christ. With Abraham he promised land in Genesis 15:18. With David he promised a throne in 2 Samuel 7:12-17.
- Missing names in Matthew 1:8 are Ahaziah, Joash, Amaziah. This fulfills Numbers 14:18
- 1:18-25 – Virgin birth of the Prince. The birth of the Prince was a miraculous virgin birth fulfilling the prophecy of Isaiah 7:14. This was made necessary by Jeremiah 22:30 when the royal line of Judah was cursed.

- 2:1-10 – The Prince is born in Bethlehem
- 2:11-15 – The Prince is called out of Egypt, Hosea 11:1.

Presentation of His kingdom (8-12)
- The power over the curse (Chapter 8)
- 8:1-4 – Over leprosy
- The Prince instructs the leper to stay quiet about what’s happened because he has already been rejected by the synagogue in Capernaum in Luke 4:16-32. Second the Prince touches the leper which the priests were not allowed to do except by a blood sacrifice.
- 8:5-13 – Over palsy – (speak the word only 8:8)
- 8:14-15 – Over fever
- 8:16-17 – Fulfilling Isaiah 53:4 16-17
- 8:18-22 – Commandment to depart (8:18)
- Note here is to foxes and birds, both types of devils. In a veiled sarcasm the Lord Jesus is saying the devil’s crowd is more comfortable in the world than God’s own.
- 8:23-27 – Over weather – even the winds and sea obey him! (8:27)
- 8:28-34 – Over devils – he said unto them, Go. (8:32)
- 8:1-4 – Over leprosy
- Power of forgiveness (Chapter 9) – (Faith will lead to forgiveness)
- 9:1-8 – Power to forgive
- 9:9 – Call of faith (Matthew’s call) – Publican is called, not a Pharisee
- 9:10-13 – Prince is looking for sinners
- 9:14-17 – New creatures will receive new bodies (new cloth) and new wine is the blood of the New Testament where forgiveness is
- 9:18-19 – Faith over death (worshipped him) – Genesis 22:5 worship associated with death, burial and resurrection
- 9:20-26 – Jesus will stop the blood flow (sacrifices of the nation) and give new life
- 9:27-31 – Two blind men healed (9:29 according to your faith)
- 9:32-35 – Never seen In Israel – heals dumb man (9:34 first time Pharisees say he’s healing by the power of the devil) –Note Jesus heals ALL things in 9:35
- 9:36-38 – Laborers few
- The Prince commands his disciples (Chapter 10)
- 10:1-15 – The Prince delegates twelve and their offer is the kingdom offer (Particularly vss 14-15)
- 10:16-39 – The Prince warns and prepares his own twelve

- Those offended by the Prince (Chapter 11)

- 11:7-15 – Jesus says if you believed John then believe me

- After six days… taken to a mount… two witnesses coming prior to his 2nd coming (17:12 this could’ve already happened) 1-13
- Disciples are faithless, must work in the Lord’s absence 14-21- Matthew 17:17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me
- The Prince must die and rise again 22-23
