holy Spirit	unclean spirits
commonwealth of Israel. Israel is supposed to be filled with the holy Spirit. (Isaiah 63:10-14)	Gergesenes – Gentiles, nations, heathen are filled with devils or unclean spirits. (1 Corinthians 10:20, Leviticus 17:7)
surrender – meek, humble, generous	possessed – dominating, aggressive, consuming, lust after, “give me give me”
friend, angel, saint	devils
life	desire to be around death (1 Samuel 15:23, Isaiah 8:19-20, 47:8-13)
kind	fierce
moral strength	physical strength (Mark 5:4)
fellowship with God (John 14:30)	enmity with God (What have we to do with thee?)
Believe there is one God	Believe there is one God and tremble (James 2:19). The Most High is the name of God Almighty among the nations of the world. Indicates recognition of a hierarchy of gods.

body offered to God	self mutilation – body offered to devils, scarring, cutting, piercing, tattooing. (Mark 5:5) 1 Kings 18:28

Fighting devils – Spiritual warfare is laid out in Ephesians 6. Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to thee. Resist the devil and he will flee.

The role of money in the peoples’ rejection of Jesus Christ can’t be forgotten. The swine may bring $35 – $45/CWT. With an average weight of 275 lbs this is about a quarter of a million dollars worth of pork at market price. Have you ever wanted Jesus out of the picture when $250K was at stake? I bet it didn’t even take that much for you to want Jesus out of the picture.

Mark 5:19 tells the beginning of this man’s new life. Jesus didn’t allow him to follow him, but instead left him to be a witness to testify to others of what great things were done for him.
