Babylon under King Nebuchadnezzar is taking control of Israel. The Babylonians have destroyed much of the nation and carried many of the Jews. Jeremiah has been preaching to the nation that Babylon is God’s temporary judgment on the nation and Israel will not be able to fight back. The LORD instructs Jeremiah to purchase some land in spite of Babylon taking over.
Jeremiah purchases the land, gets the title, the paperwork to show proof of ownership. He takes the proofs of purchase, the written “receipts”, and puts them in an earthen vessel. Like a clay pot.
Now, what I’m about to tell you is not the point of this history. However, it is a perfect allegory. The redeemer is Jeremiah. After the redemption, the LORD tells Jeremiah to take the evidences of redemption and put them in an earthen vessel.
The LORD Jesus Christ is the redeemer. The Father tells Jesus Christ to take the evidences of redemption and put them in earthen vessels. The written evidences and the Holy Spirit of God are so closely related
