Introduction: Evils of the pilgrim’s life

- Man defaults to infidelity
It took a tree to make bitter waters sweet. In this case, the LORD changes the bitter waters by adding something to them.
- Light to guide makes bitterness sweet
- Moses issues a law here at this point.
- Moses likens this to the word of God cleaning the nation of Israel so the plagues of Egypt don’t come on them.
- If you’ll do these things, you’ll have the blessing of God.
- Moses said the LORD would heal them. How? By the words of God.
- The cross makes bitterness sweet
- The cross, literally the tree, removes the curse upon sinners.
- Galatians 3:13-14 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: 14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
