The Cry for Justice
Psalm 10
Text: Psalm 10
David seeks God’s intervention (vs 1)
David builds a case against the wicked as a lawyer (vss 2-11)
- The trouble the wicked have is they’ve taken the life that they’ve been given and mismanaged it. Because they’ve strayed from life, the tendency is toward death. Not just unintended death, but turning their lives into weapons against other people’s lives. This is wickedness.
- In their pride, they persecute people who cannot serve them.
- In their entitlement, they bless the ones who will do anything for money and dream their dreams of tomorrow.
- In their pride, they forget God. The Israelites forgot the God that redeemed them. They took their own lives for granted.
- They are disgusted with any opposition to themselves.
- They feel secure in their own way. There is no hole in their heart for God. There is no thirst for righteousness. Just satisfaction with themselves.
- Their conversation is fraudulent and deceptive.
- Their destructive agenda lies in waiting until it’s time to eat.
- They truly do not believe God is watching or has any oversight of their lives.
David’s faith (vss 12-18)
- Arise, Lord, act on this injustice.
- The eyes of the LORD behold the good and the evil.
- Root out the wickedness because you are the authority, not evil.
- Thank you for addressing the injustice.
