Moses Frustrates the LORD (Exodus #6)

Text: Exodus 4:10-16

Moses is a very good man, so I don’t want to be too hard on him. His shyness and fear in these verses are a source of frustration for the LORD.

Moses excuses himself

  • After God has given Moses some signs to show to the Israelites, Moses seeks to disqualify himself with an excuse.
  • God reminds Moses who He is.
  • The LORD qualifies the called. He promises His presence to the laborer. Moses will be given God’s words in private. This is critical to understand.
  • Christians are created unto good works, therefore that is what Christians are equipped for.

God is frustrated with faithlessness

  • Moses says to send someone else, please!
  • The LORD’s view of man’s fear is that it’s unbelievable and frustrating.
  • Think about that in your life. Faithlessness is unbelievable to God.

God hesitantly agrees to make Aaron the spokesman

  • Aaron is not part of God’s plan for this, but he becomes part of God’s plan because of Moses’ feelings of inadequacy.
  • So you can learn that the LORD sometimes amends His plans. The direction is God’s will, but the details are not. It’s interesting that the LORD often does this as you read through the Bible.
