The second petal in the Calvinist’s TULIP is the “U” which stands for unconditional election. Election is a biblical term, but like all biblical terms the Calvinists ruin them with heretical prefixes. In this case “unconditional.”
Definition of Unconditional Election
- This “unconditional election” according to Calvinism means the personal eternal decree of God about who should be saved and who should not be saved.
- Since God chose who should be saved, He also chose who shouldn’t be saved. More so, God predetermined sin and evil as well as good and deliverance according to Calvinists. They say God’s foreknowledge is based on his predetermining of all events including sin. And that He could not know everything is He did not control everything.
- Their idea of election is a product of the calvinist’s view of God’s sovereignty.
- By sovereignty they mean arbitrary capriciousness. God can pick and choose whatever He wants, contradict himself, and damn an individual to hell before he’s ever created, before the law has convicted him of sin, and still be justified.
- They ignore that it is appointed unto man once to die, not twice (Hebrews 9:27).
Contradictions of this false doctrine of “unconditional election”
- The elect are not born sinners, so the new birth makes no sense.
- The law has no point since indictment is made before the law takes effect. Romans 5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.)
- The death of Jesus Christ is pointless since God chooses who is saved regardless of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.
- Preaching has no point since God has determined what He’s going to do.
- 1 Corinthians 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
- Titus 1:3 But hath in due times manifested his word through preach
ing, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour; - Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
- How about Jonah being told to preach to Nineveh? Jonah preaches, Yet forty days and Nineveh will be destroyed. Was that true? Yes. Did it happen? No. Why. Because Nineveh repented.
- Prayer is useless.
Biblical Election
- All means all – 1 Timothy 2:1-6
- Election is a choice God makes.
- Election is representation.
- Election is conditional as it applies to God’s people. It is not unconditional.
- 1 Peter 1:2
- 1 Peter 2:9
- 1 Samuel 23:8-13 – David in Keilah. So much for foreordaining all events, yet God had foreknowledge of what would happen and David used it to his advantage.
- Election never means salvation.
- Jesus Christ is elect – 1 Peter 2:5. He doesn’t need to be saved.
- Angels are elect in 1 Timothy 5:21.
- Israel is elect according to Isaiah 45:4, but many Israelites would die and go to hell while being part of the elect as the verse says.
