Death, Burial, Resurrection, but Why?

Why does God require blood?  Isn’t that tyrannical and sadistic?

Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

Hebrews 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

  • Abel’s offering more excellent because the COST was the flesh and blood that comes between man and God.
  • You can’t approach God without a sacrifice – absent from the body, present with the Lord.

The word sin shows up 446 times in your Bible.  The word blood shows up 447 times.
