The Ants Go Marching…

Proverbs 6:6-8 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: 7 Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, 8 Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

There are all kinds of ants in God’s creation.

  • Carpenter ants that live in wood.
  • Fire Ants that bite and attack when they feel threatened.

Fun Facts

  • Ants are extremely social creatures.
  • An ant can lift 20 times its own body weight. If a second grader was as strong as an ant, she would be able to pick up a car!
  • When ants fight, it is usually to the death!
  • When foraging, ants leave a pheromone trail so that they know where they’ve been.
  • The Argentina Clown ant is very good at juggling…. JUST KIDDING

Instruction

  • Common sense is often spiritual sense. In fact, it’s no surprise people don’t understand spiritual things because they can’t see the simple principles in the dirt.
    • Seed like the word of God. It grows well here, it doesn’t grow well there. That’s an agricultural principle and a spiritual principle.
    • You reap what you sow. That’s an agricultural principle and a spiritual principle.
    • You sow little and you reap little. That’s an agricultural principle and a spiritual principle.
  • Go… consider… be…
  • No matter what kind of ant, one thing you learn from all ants is that they know how to prepare.
  • They prepare their food so when it comes time to eat and they can’t gather food, they still have food.
  • Prepare for a test. If you didn’t study or you didn’t learn the material, when the test comes you’ll fail the test. But if you prepared, if you know the material, when you’re given the test, you can have confidence that you did well on the test.
  • Ants are master preppers. They know there is coming a time when they will not be able to gather food, they know there is a test coming, and so they gather food for that time.

Inevitable

  • The time is coming when you won’t be able to gather physically, spiritually. Either way. And you’ll live off of what you prepared.
  • We are all reaping the harvest we prepared.
  • Prepare to meet thy God
    • Prepare by learning the Bible.
    • Prepare by being in a good church so you’ll be encouraged to do right by fellow saints.
    • Prepare by trusting Jesus Christ.
  • Consider the ant, get to work, prepare to meet thy God.
