This is an example of a good relationship gone bad.
If we’re going to disobey God, we’ll do it for something or someone we care about. That care can be more influential than the words of God. The relationship may not be bad, until it leads to disobedience to God.
Paul loved his people. Paul loved Israel. He really wanted to see them get saved. Going so far as to ignore a warning from God. It would cost him a detour in the ministry.
Romans 9:1-3
Acts 20:16 – Paul’s strong desire to go to Jerusalem.
Acts 20:22-27 – Paul is determined to go to Jerusalem even after being advised not to.
Acts 21:10-14 – God gives Paul clear direction to avoid Jerusalem.
Acts 21:26-31 – Paul goes to Jerusalem anyway and is arrested immediately without being able to accomplish anything he wanted to accomplish there.
