- Addictions to pleasure will make people lie, neglect family, hate people, steal.
The misunderstanding proves fatal
- The Rimmon brothers thought David would be so happy with their treachery, but David has never been happy executing personal vengeance on people. And if the Rimmon brothers knew that, they’d have known better. If they’d have known David had already executed a man for this very thing. But they didn’t know David.
- Religious people will have the same problem with God. They don’t know God, but they think their little acts of righteousness are a help to God. Your righteousnesses are as filthy rags.
- Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
- It’s clear that when judgment finally comes people will be shocked at the judgment.
- Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord… Many will say shows you how prevalent the deception has gone. And the signs and wonders show you how convincing the deception is.
- Prophesied in thy name, cast out devils in thy name, done wonderful things in thy name (signs and wonders). These people have used the name of Jesus without ever trusting or believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. Without ever becoming children of God, without ever receiving righteousness of God because they never looked for it.
- Lost independent baptist can be some of the most arrogant, self righteous people. Yes, lost I said. Because they wear the King James Bible as a badge of pride. Just like the lost Jews who said we have Abraham as our father. But that Bible hadn’t made a dent in your spirit. You know what God’s word is, it’s a privilege to have. It’s a blessing to have. You’re not a better person because you USE this Bible. But you’ll be a better person if you let it USE you!
- The answer comes from the King, Never knew you.
- The Shepherd knows his sheep – John 10:3-4, 14-18, 24-29. 1 Corinthians 8:3 But if any man love God, the same is known of him.
- This is why Paul will say, examine yourselves to see whether ye be in the faith.
- Jeremiah 9:23-24 Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: 24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD. If you’re religion doesn’t lead to knowing God better, showing lovingkindness more, the establishment of good judgment, and working righteousness in peace, whatever you’re calling religion isn’t godly.
