When God Says No (2 Samuel #12)

Text: 2 Samuel 7:18-29

David wants to build the LORD a house. But the LORD says no and David accepts God’s answer. Notice verse 29 particularly.

It’s because the LORD knows his people (vss 18-20)

  • Part of faith is trusting that God knows what He’s doing when it runs contrary to what you think should be done.
    • Trust in the LORD with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.
    • Maybe you have experience in an area, but the word of God says that’s not right.
    • Maybe your emotions are telling you something contrary to what God said.
    • Because of incomplete information – “I don’t understand”
  • What made you think the LORD didn’t know what He was doing?

It’s for greater revelation of God (vss 21-22)

Remember His goodness (vss 23-24)

Build a case for the LORD instead of against Him (vss 25-27)

  • Build a case for the LORD for your sake.
  • Think on these things…

Lesser “No” for a greater “Yes” (vss 28-29)
