Text: Jeremiah 14-15
This was a very notable conversation between Jeremiah and the LORD. Jeremiah attempted to stand in the gap and plead for Jerusalem while the LORD disagreed with him. The LORD even said though Moses or Samuel stood and pleaded for Judah He wouldn’t listen. We’re going to take our theme from chapter 15 verse 17 where Jeremiah mourns his position crying, I sat alone because of thy hand.
14:1-6 The dire judgment of God on the people by way of the land
14:7-9 Jeremiah’s plea to show mercy even in judgment for His name’s sake
14:10-12 The LORD says He will not hear the cries of the people like Isaiah 59:2 said
14:13-16 Jeremiah laments that he is constantly contending with false assurance of peace preached by false prophets. Their judgment is an ironic twist to their false teaching.
14:17-22 A confession of sin, a mourning for the iniquity of the nation is in order
15:1-9 Though Samuel or Moses pleaded for Judah and Jerusalem, the LORD won’t hear.
15:10-14 This is the application of Proverbs 16:7 which says the LORD will make any man who pleases him to be at peace with his enemies.
15:15-18 Jeremiah asks am I a blessed man or not? Is there going to be a recognition of his faithfulness?
15:19-21 The conditions of a useful vessel as Paul said in 2 Timothy 2:20-21
