The Old Testament (Exodus #34)

Text: Exodus 34-40

The covenant in Moses is established. The shadows are cast.

The words of God

  • New tables of stone (34:1-9)
  • God’s agreement with the nation (34:10-35)

The house of God

  • Sabbath regulations (35:1-3)
  • Building materials are collected (35:4-36:7)
  • Building the tabernacle (36:38)
  • Building the ark (37:1-9)
  • Building the table (37:10-16)
  • Building the lampstand (37:17-24)
  • Building the altar of incense (37:25-29)
  • Building the brasen altar (38:1-8)
  • Building the enclosure (38:9-20)
  • The sum of the tabernacle (38:21-31)

The ministers of God

  • Making the priests clothes (39:1-31)
  • Tabernacle is complete (39:32-43)

The presence of God

  • Setting up the tabernacle (40:1-33)
  • The Glory of the LORD fills the tabernacle (40:34-38)

Jesus Christ is all of these things. He’s the Word. He’s the tabernacle made without hands. He commissions his ministers to administrate his body. He was the presence of God in the flesh. His blood becomes the new covenant, thus making this covenant old. It was a schoolmaster to bring Israel to Christ anyway. 2 Corinthians 3:13-16.
